Manchester City extended their perfect start to the Premier League season with a 2-1 comeback win over Brentford, thanks to a brace from Erling Haaland. Brentford stunned City with the fastest goal of the season, as Yoane Wissa struck just 22 seconds into the game, taking advantage of a defensive error by John Stones and goalkeeper Éderson.
Despite Brentford’s early dominance, Haaland leveled the score in the 20th minute with a clinical finish from a tight angle. The Norwegian striker put City ahead in the 36th minute, using his strength to outmuscle defender Ethan Pinnock and chip the ball past goalkeeper Mark Flekken.
Brentford’s first-half energy waned as City gained control after the break, with midfielder Rodri returning to stabilize the champions. Haaland, seeking a third goal to make Premier League history, was denied by Flekken’s impressive saves. City ultimately secured all three points, moving three points clear at the top of the table as they continue their title defense.
