A groundbreaking documentary titled “Daniel vs Ekweremadu,” directed by acclaimed filmmaker Chude Jideonwo, has shed light on a new investigation by the London Metropolitan Police linked to the notorious organ trafficking case involving former Nigerian Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu. Ekweremadu, along with his wife Beatrice and their associate Dr. Obinna Obeta, was convicted in 2023 under the UK’s Modern Slavery Law for attempting to harvest organs, leading to a 10-year prison sentence for the former senator.

The first installment of the two-part docuseries, which premiered on August 23, dives deep into the events that led to the convictions. Notably, the documentary reveals a fresh development in the case through an email from Alexandra Meek, a senior communications manager at the MET Police. According to the email, on November 8, 2022, detectives arrested a woman in her 50s on suspicion of conspiracy to exploit individuals for organ harvesting. The investigation, which remains ongoing, is directly connected to the Ekweremadu scandal.

Daniel vs Ekweremadu offers exclusive interviews with key players in the case, including British prosecutors, law enforcement officials, and the family of the victim-survivor, referred to as “Daniel” to protect his identity. The documentary, available exclusively on withChude.com, combines investigative journalism with gripping storytelling, highlighting the far-reaching implications of the case on global human trafficking and organ harvesting issues.

This docuseries not only chronicles Ekweremadu’s dramatic fall from grace but also underscores the continuing efforts by the MET Police to unravel the full extent of the criminal network involved, making it a significant contribution to West African independent filmmaking.
