Pastor Kumuyi Explains Inclusion of Muslim Clerics at Church Conference

Pastor William Kumuyi, founder of Deeper Christian Life Ministry, has addressed the recent controversy over Muslim clerics speaking at a church conference in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The event, part of the Change Makers International (CMI) conference, was held at the General Yakubu Gowon Stadium, not within a church building. Images of Muslim clerics speaking from the pulpit led to debates on social media.

Pastor Kumuyi clarified that the decision to allow the clerics to speak was due to the venue being a stadium. He emphasized that the setting differed from a traditional church environment, which influenced his decision not to object to the clerics’ participation or attire.

“People were asking, Pastor WF, what are you looking at, look at that man having his cap on. Yes, we are in the stadium, we are not in the church building, and so I do not have to challenge him, he has his cap on,” Pastor Kumuyi explained.
