The Ogun State Police Command has arrested Adekunle Adebajo, alias “Kunle Poly,” a notorious cult leader, in connection with the brutal murder of a rival gang member in Ijebu Ode. The arrest took place in the early hours of August 17, 2024, following a violent clash between rival cult groups.
On August 12, 2024, a deadly confrontation between the groups resulted in the gruesome death of a man known as ‘Mosquito.’ The victim was shot, hacked with machetes, and had his left hand severed by his attackers, who then took it away.
A tip-off from a concerned citizen led the police to Kunle Poly’s hideout in Isiwo, Ijebu, where he was apprehended. During the raid, officers recovered a Beretta pistol loaded with six rounds of live ammunition, two UTC axes, and various charms from the suspect’s residence.
Kunle Poly confessed to being a member of the Eiye confraternity during questioning. The police are continuing their investigation to track down other members of the group and to understand the pattern of violence employed by them.
Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, assured residents that the police are intensifying efforts to eliminate cultism in the area. He pledged that all those involved in this crime would be brought to justice.
