US rapper Travis Scott was arrested in Paris early Friday morning following an altercation at the five-star George V hotel. The 33-year-old musician, whose real name is Jacques Bermon Webster, reportedly got into a physical confrontation with his own bodyguard, prompting a hotel security guard to intervene. The situation escalated, leading to Scott’s arrest for “violence against a security agent,” according to the Paris prosecutor’s office.
Police were called to the scene and took Scott into custody. It remains unclear whether he is still being detained.
The incident came shortly after Scott was seen attending the Olympic men’s basketball semi-finals on Thursday evening, where he was photographed with American businessman Michael Rubin and fellow rapper Quavo.
This isn’t Scott’s first run-in with the law. In June, he was arrested in Miami Beach for trespassing and disorderly intoxication after an argument on a private yacht. While the disorderly intoxication charge was later dropped, he still faces a trespassing charge.
A 10-time Grammy nominee, Scott is one of the biggest names in hip-hop, with his album “Utopia” earning a nomination for Best Rap Album at this year’s Grammy Awards. He has also secured lucrative deals with major brands like Nike, Epic Games, and McDonald’s.
Scott shares two children with media personality and business mogul Kylie Jenner. He was also at the center of controversy in 2021 when 10 fans tragically died in a crowd surge at his Astroworld festival in Houston, Texas. While Scott did not face criminal charges, he is still involved in ongoing civil cases related to the incident.
