Nicki Minaj has prevented the release of the much-anticipated song “New Body,” a collaboration with Kanye West, resulting in the postponement of West’s new album, “Vultures.” West’s initial plan was to release the album, a joint project with vocalist Ty Dolla $ign, on Friday. However, Minaj’s decision to block the release led to a social media exchange between the two artists.
West took to social media, posting a message to Minaj, asking for permission to include “New Body” on his new album. Minaj responded during an Instagram Livestream, stating that the opportunity had passed, questioning why she would release a song that has been available for three years.
“New Body” dates back to 2018 and was initially intended for West’s scrapped album “Yandhi.” Despite subsequent attempts to rework and release the song, it has never officially seen the light of day. The track was also considered for inclusion on West’s 2019 gospel album, “Jesus Is King,” but that version was never released.
Minaj, who recently dropped her album “Pink Friday 2,” described “New Body” as “the hit that got away” in a previous interview. Despite its popularity, the song has faced challenges in aligning with West’s evolving musical direction.
In response to the delayed release of “Vultures,” West introduced “Yzy Pod,” a sock-like footwear design priced at $200 or £159, described as “the foldable future of footwear.” This marks West’s first product since parting ways with Adidas.
While the controversy around “New Body” continues, West’s upcoming album, “Vultures,” is expected to feature collaborations with Chris Brown, Kodak Black, Young Thug, producer Timbaland, and more. Minaj, on the other hand, remains focused on the success of “Pink Friday 2,” which is anticipated to chart in the UK Top 3.
