President Bola Tinubu has extended his heartfelt best wishes to Team Nigeria as they embark on their journey at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
A contingent of 88 Nigerian athletes, including 63 women and 25 men, is set to compete across 12 sports, proudly representing the nation on the global stage.
In a statement released on Friday by his Media Adviser, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu reaffirmed his steadfast support for these valiant athletes, emphasizing that they carry the hopes and prayers of over 200 million Nigerians.
As the Games commenced with the grand ‘Parade of Nations’ on July 26, President Tinubu expressed his eagerness to witness the performances of the nation’s flagbearer, Ms. Tobi Amusan, the current world record holder in the 100 metres hurdles, along with other dedicated athletes.
The President encouraged Team Nigeria to embody the qualities of resilience, courage, respect, self-control, and sportsmanship that Nigerians are celebrated for. He assured them that their efforts and determination inspire a nation that stands united in their support.
President Tinubu urged the coaching crew, support staff, and Nigerian spectators who will be watching the Games in Paris to remain worthy ambassadors of the country.
The Paris 2024 Olympic Games will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024, and will include 10,714 athletes from 206 countries across the globe.
