Snoop Dogg, the iconic musician and TV personality, added another achievement to his illustrious career by serving as a torchbearer for the Paris 2024 Olympics. On Friday, Snoop carried the Olympic flame through Saint-Denis, a northern suburb of Paris near the Stade de France, during the penultimate leg before the grand opening ceremony.
In an interview earlier this week, Snoop Dogg expressed his deep appreciation for the honor. “I look at this as a prestigious honor and something I truly respect. I would have never dreamed of nothing like this,” he said. “I’m going to be on my best behavior, on my best athleticism. I’ll hold the torch with a smile on my face, because I realize how prestigious this event is.”
Despite the excitement surrounding the torch relay, the day was marred by significant disruptions to France’s high-speed TGV railway network. Coordinated acts of vandalism targeted lines connecting Paris to cities such as Lille, Bordeaux, and Strasbourg, causing major delays. However, Snoop’s relay segment went off without a hitch, highlighting his dedication and enthusiasm.
Snoop Dogg is also in Paris to provide coverage of the Games for NBC, part of the U.S. broadcaster’s strategy to enhance viewership by incorporating pop culture into its Olympic coverage.
