South African actress Esta TerBlanche, best known for her role on the iconic soap opera “All My Children,” has passed away at the age of 51. Her family confirmed that she died unexpectedly on Thursday, July 18, at her North Hollywood home. Medical personnel estimate she had been deceased for about a day before she was found.
The cause of death is currently under investigation, with an autopsy report pending. Her representative, Lisa Rodrigo, mentioned that there is no additional information available at this time.
TerBlanche’s illustrious career began when she was crowned Miss Teen South Africa in 1991. She first gained widespread recognition for her portrayal of Bienkie Naudé Hartman in the South African drama “Egoli: Place of Gold” from 1992 to 1995. Seeking broader horizons, she moved to the United States and quickly landed her first acting role in a hair products commercial.
In 1997, TerBlanche joined the cast of “All My Children” as Gillian Andrassy, a trouble-making princess, a role that endeared her to fans until her character was killed off in 2001. She made a guest appearance on “Egoli: Place of Gold” in 2004 and returned for a special appearance on “All My Children” in August 2011.
Esta TerBlanche is survived by her ex-husband and her goddaughter. Her passing is a profound loss to the entertainment community, and she will be fondly remembered for her remarkable contributions to television in both South Africa and the United States.
