Julian Alvarez is looking to leave Manchester City after rejecting a new four-year contract with the Premier League champions. The Argentinian forward, who signed with City in 2022, has reportedly expressed his desire for a new challenge and has asked the club to set a logical asking price for potential buyers.
Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are among the clubs interested in Alvarez, with a transfer fee of at least £70 million expected to secure his services. Despite not being as high-profile as teammates Erling Haaland or Kevin De Bruyne, Alvarez has been a crucial player for City, contributing significantly as a substitute or in Haaland’s absence. Last season, he made 32 goal contributions in 54 games, helping City to dominate the Premier League.
At just 24, Alvarez has already won an impressive array of trophies, including the World Cup, Copa America, Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, and League Cup. His successful career and consistent performances have made him a valuable asset, and his departure would be a significant loss for City.
Alvarez remains under contract with Manchester City until 2028 and will join his teammates for pre-season preparations and their US tour while waiting for a potential transfer.
