Spain striker Álvaro Morata experienced a scare after a stadium security guard accidentally collided with his right leg following Spain’s 2-1 victory over France in the Euro 2024 semi-finals.
The incident occurred when a fan invaded the field, and the security guard, in an attempt to apprehend the fan, slipped and crashed into Morata’s leg. The Spanish captain, who had been substituted in the 76th minute, was seen limping and holding his knee in pain during the post-match celebrations.
Spain coach Luis de la Fuente addressed the situation, stating, “Álvaro took a knock during a moment of excessive euphoria by a fan, but we don’t think it is anything serious. We have to wait and see tomorrow.”
Spain’s victory against France secured their spot in Sunday’s final in Berlin, where they will face either England or the Netherlands. Morata, 31, has been a key player for Spain, scoring one goal and starting in five of their six games in the tournament.
Spain’s win marked a historic achievement as they became the first team to win six consecutive games at the Euros without the need for penalties.
