Arsenal is keen to sign Bologna and Italy center-back Riccardo Calafiori to strengthen their defense this summer. The 22-year-old defender has caught the attention of several top clubs due to his impressive performances for both Bologna and the Italian national team.
Arsenal has made an offer for Calafiori, proposing a long-term plan that is reportedly more appealing to him than offers from Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, and Bayer Leverkusen. Other interested clubs include Liverpool, West Ham, and Juventus, though they have not made formal offers.
Calafiori played a significant role in Bologna’s qualification for the Champions League, appearing 33 times in all competitions. He also played every minute of Italy’s Euro 2024 group stage matches but was suspended for the round of 16, where Italy was defeated by Switzerland.
With three years left on his Bologna contract, Calafiori is considering his options as Arsenal and Chelsea vie for his signature. Both clubs are in talks with him, and an agreement is hoped to be reached by the end of the week.
