Former Cameroon midfielder Landry Nguemo, aged 38, tragically passed away in a car accident near Yaoundé, Cameroon. The accident occurred when his car collided with a sand truck, resulting in fatalities for both Nguemo and his chauffeur.
Nguemo, known for his career in French football with clubs like Nancy, Celtic, and Bordeaux, also represented Cameroon’s national team, the Indomitable Lions, earning 42 caps and scoring three goals. He played in two Africa Cup of Nations tournaments and was part of the squad that reached the 2008 final.
Since retiring from football in 2020, Nguemo had been coaching youth players at Nancy and was involved in community projects aimed at developing young football talent in Cameroon. His sudden death has prompted condolences from the Cameroon Football Federation, former teammates like Samuel Eto’o, and clubs he played for, including Bordeaux and Saint-Etienne.
