Grammy winner Burna Boy has kicked off 2024 with his new single “Higher,” following a record-breaking year. The mid-tempo track features Amapiano production and reflects Burna Boy’s gratitude for life, success, and family. Inspired by his recent time spent in his hometown of Port Harcourt, where he participated in humanitarian outreach, the song captures his current state of mind.
In 2023, Burna Boy made history as the first African artist to perform at the Grammys main ceremony, sharing the stage with 21 Savage and Brandy. He also became the first Nigerian artist to be nominated as a lead artist outside the global categories at the Grammys, with his hit “Sittin’ On Top Of The World” featuring 21 Savage earning a nomination for Best Melodic Rap Performance.
Burna Boy’s achievements also include setting records for the highest-grossing concert by an African artist in the United States and the highest-grossing tour by an African artist in Canada. He is slated for another historic performance at the London Stadium on June 29, 2024, marking his second time headlining the venue after being the first African artist to do so in 2023.
With “Higher,” Burna Boy continues to solidify his status as one of the world’s biggest artists, celebrating his life and accomplishments through his music.
