Chelsea has expressed interest in Nottingham Forest’s centre-back Murillo, a player valued at around £70 million by Forest. The 21-year-old Brazilian, who joined Forest from Corinthians last summer for approximately £11.2 million, has impressed in his debut Premier League season and was named the club’s player of the year.
New Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca sees Murillo as a young player with high potential, fitting Chelsea’s profile under his leadership. The club has made inquiries through intermediaries about his availability, although a deal is not expected to happen immediately.
Forest is under pressure to raise funds before June 30 to comply with financial regulations, which might influence the transfer’s timing. Murillo’s impressive performance has also attracted interest from European giants like Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona, indicating Forest could secure a significant profit if they decide to sell him.
Chelsea’s interest comes as Forest is in talks to sell another defender, Moussa Niakhate, to Lyon, potentially reshaping their defensive lineup. Despite having six centre-backs in their squad, Chelsea remains keen on adding Murillo to their ranks.
