Veteran actor Kanayo O Kanayo has issued a public warning to teen actress Angel Unigwe and her mother, accusing them of repeatedly breaching contracts with movie producers.
In a social media post, Kanayo alleged that Unigwe’s mother frequently disrupts productions by taking her daughter off sets before the agreed time. He claimed that during a recent production, Angel’s mother removed her from the set at 9 pm, despite a contractual agreement for her to stay until midnight.
Kanayo said that such actions undermine professionalism and harm Nigeria’s film industry. He threatened to disrupt any future film sets that employ Angel Unigwe to “save and protect” the industry.
The actor called on all producers to avoid working with Angel Unigwe, effective June 21, 2024, unless they want their productions disrupted.
Angel Unigwe, 18, has appeared in several notable movies and TV series, including ‘Light in the Dark’, ‘Here Love Lies’, ‘The Olive’, ‘King of Boys’, and ‘Discerning Eyes’. She won the Trailblazer Award at the 2023 AMVCA.
Kanayo’s public accusation has sparked mixed reactions online, with some netizens suggesting he take legal action rather than disrupting productions, while others called for hearing both sides of the story.
