Former President Olusegun Obasanjo visited First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu during the Eid el Kabir celebrations. The First Lady’s spokesperson, Busola Kukoyi, shared the news on social media, posting a photo of the two leaders together in Lagos.
Kukoyi wrote: “Former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, and the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, after receiving the former President who came to felicitate on the Sallah celebration on Monday, June 17.”
This visit follows Obasanjo’s recent criticism of President Tinubu’s policies, including the removal of the fuel subsidy and the floating of the naira, which he said were poorly implemented, causing difficulties for Nigerians. Obasanjo had also criticized Nigeria’s handling of the coup in Niger, which strained relations between the two countries.
Just 48 hours before the visit, Obasanjo was seen wearing a cap with President Bola Tinubu’s emblem, showing a gesture of goodwill despite their political differences.
