Nigerian YouTuber Emdee Tiamiyu, living in the UK, has faced consequences after a controversial interview with the BBC. Reports suggest that his interview led the UK government to restrict Nigerian students from bringing their families to the UK, except for those pursuing PhDs.
Now, Emdee Tiamiyu is reportedly involved in a financial matter with UK authorities. Videos circulating on social media shed light on the situation.
This comes after the UK government announced changes on May 23, 2023, stating that international students, including Nigerians, can no longer bring family members while pursuing a Master’s degree. Additionally, to prevent misuse of the visa system, students won’t be allowed to switch to employment routes before completing their studies, starting from January 2024.
Emdee Tiamiyu who spoke to the BBC backed the ban while claiming that most Nigerians migrating to the UK use schooling as a ploy to gain entry into the country.
He said;
“So, the student thing is not real. It is not like they need the degrees.
“They need the degree as an access road to come into the country, so a lot of these people their priorities shifted real fast.”
