The Nollywood industry mourns the loss of one of its own, as veteran movie producer Ikechukwu Nnadi, popularly known as Andy Best, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, at a private facility in Owerri, Imo State.
The sad news was confirmed via an Instagram post by Seun Oloketuyi, the convener of the Best of Nollywood Awards (BON), who announced, “Andy Best, a top Nollywood producer and marketer, is dead. He died in an Owerri hospital today.”
Hailing from Umunkwo, Isiala Mbano Local Government Area, Imo State, Andy Best was a renowned figure in the Nollywood scene, with decades of experience as a producer and marketer. He was the CEO of Andy Best Production and was responsible for several notable movies, including ‘Lion of Africa’, ‘White Poison’, and ‘My Father’s Cup’, among others.
His passing comes as yet another blow to the industry, following closely on the heels of the death of veteran actor John Okafor, known as Mr Ibu, who passed away due to cardiac arrest.
Andy Best’s demise marks the end of an era in Nollywood, leaving behind a legacy of remarkable contributions to the Nigerian film industry. His remains have been laid to rest at the Aladinma Mortuary in Owerri, as the industry mourns the loss of one of its stalwarts.
