Senator Patrick Ndubueze, who represents the Imo-North senatorial district (Okigwe zone), faced a terrifying attack when unknown gunmen raided his residence in Umualumoke, Imo State.
The incident, which occurred on Monday, saw armed men storming the lawmaker’s home and firing shots indiscriminately. Tragically, the attack resulted in the death of one police officer, who served as Senator Ndubueze’s orderly.
Senator Patrick Ndubueze, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), won his seat in the last general elections.
Confirming the incident, Henry Okoye, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, stated that police operatives engaged the attackers in a gun battle but were overwhelmed. He expressed the determination of the police command to track down the perpetrators, with the commissioner of Police directing the tactical team to intensify efforts in apprehending those responsible for the assault.
He said, “The gunmen attacked his residence in Okigwe, we lost one of our police officers. They tried their best, fought gallantly but the hoodlums overpowered them.
“The commissioner of Police has directed the command’s tactical team to go all out and to hunt those responsible for the attack. We are on top of the situation”.
