Mike Bickle, the founder of the International House of Prayer Kansas City (IHOPKC), is embroiled in further allegations of abuse, prompting the organization to enter a season of prayer and repentance. These accusations come after revelations from a woman who alleges that Bickle abused her when she was 14 years old in the 1980s, while he was a pastor in St. Louis.
The investigative firm hired by IHOPKC concluded that Bickle likely engaged in inappropriate behavior, including sexual contact and clergy misconduct, based on credible evidence and Bickle’s own acknowledgments. While Bickle acknowledges instances of physical contact, he denies some allegations and does not recall others. However, at least two of Bickle’s alleged victims did not participate in the investigation and are calling for an independent inquiry.
Tammy Woods, the former babysitter who broke her silence after 43 years, recounted instances of abuse by Bickle, including sexual contact and manipulation. Woods stated that the abuse began when she was 14 and continued over the years, with Bickle expressing desires for a romantic relationship and making threats of suicide. Despite Bickle’s partial confession and expressions of remorse, Woods and others are seeking accountability and transparency from IHOPKC.
The scandal has led to resignations and criticism of IHOPKC’s handling of the situation, with former members expressing frustration over the ministry’s culture.
