In a recent court appearance on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, twins Taye and Kehinde Taiwo, aged 22, along with their younger brother, Israel Taiwo, aged 20, were arraigned before the Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court. The charges stem from an alleged theft of N365,000.
The trio is accused of committing the offences of conspiracy and stealing, with the prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem, stating that the incident occurred on November 11, 2023, at 18, Ogooluwa St., Iju-Ishaga in Lagos State.
According to Mr. Akeem, Taye, who works as a hairstylist, allegedly stole an ATM card belonging to his employer, Jumoke Oreofero, and withdrew N365,000 from her account. Following the theft, Taye reportedly fled from his workplace but later implicated his siblings when apprehended.
The charges brought against the brothers are in violation of sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
During the court proceedings, the defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges. Chief Magistrate Bola Osunsanmi granted each of the defendants N50,000 bail along with two sureties each in like sum.
