Man City Target Juventus Full-Back Cambiaso as Kyle Walker Replacement

Manchester City are pursuing Juventus full-back Andrea Cambiaso to bolster their defensive options, especially with uncertainty surrounding the future of club captain Kyle Walker. The England international, 34, has reportedly asked to “explore other options” and has been linked with a move to AC Milan.

City are reportedly preparing an initial bid of €65 million (£54.7m/$67m) for Cambiaso, but Juventus remain firm on their €80 million (£67m/$82m) valuation of the 24-year-old defender, who is contracted until 2029. Sources close to Manchester City have downplayed the immediacy of the deal, stating that talks are not as advanced as some reports suggest, and there is no guarantee the transfer will materialize in January.

Cambiaso, who joined Juventus from Genoa in 2022, has become a key player for the Turin club after a loan spell at Bologna. The Italy international, known for his versatility on both flanks, has made 25 appearances across all competitions this season, contributing two goals and two assists. However, he missed Juventus’ 2-0 Champions League victory over City in December due to an ankle injury.

City manager Pep Guardiola is reportedly eager to secure an orthodox left-back, a position left vacant since Benjamin Mendy’s departure. Cambiaso’s potential arrival would be part of an unusually active January transfer window for the Premier League champions.

In addition to Cambiaso, City are closing in on the signings of Brazilian teenager Vitor Reis and Eintracht Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush. Meanwhile, they have reportedly agreed to a €40 million (£33.6m) deal for Uzbek defender Abdukodir Khusanov from Lens, though the transfer has yet to be confirmed.
