With just days left before the 2024 US Election, both Republican candidate Donald Trump and Democratic candidate Kamala Harris are making a final sprint through crucial swing states. Polls show an exceptionally close race, with Harris holding a slim national lead of only 1.3 points, according to FiveThirtyEight.
On Saturday, Harris campaigned in North Carolina and Georgia, including a rally alongside musician Jon Bon Jovi, and even made a surprise appearance on “Saturday Night Live” with Maya Rudolph. Trump, meanwhile, held events in North Carolina and Virginia, rallying his supporters with a message focused on “America First” policies and criticizing Harris’s platform as overly liberal.
Polling averages indicate that neither candidate has more than a three-point lead in key battleground states, including North Carolina, Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Michigan. Harris spent time over the weekend in Michigan, aiming to secure support among urban and unionized voters. However, the Democratic campaign faces challenges with certain demographics, such as the Arab-American community in Michigan and parts of the Black vote, showing signs of reduced support.
Both candidates are working to mobilize undecided and lower-turnout voters. Harris’s campaign has even launched a national TV ad, pledging to be “a president for all Americans.” Trump’s campaign has been focused on rallying his base in states with large electoral votes, particularly Pennsylvania and Georgia.
This high-stakes race is likely to come down to the wire, with over 75 million early votes already cast and many key states within a razor-thin margin heading into Election Day.
