Nottingham Forest’s stunning Premier League run continued with a 3-0 victory over West Ham at the City Ground on Saturday, with Chris Wood once again finding the net. Forest’s win moves them up to third place in the league, marking their best start to a season in recent memory.

Wood opened the scoring in the 27th minute, heading in Alex Moreno’s precise cross from close range. The New Zealand striker has now scored eight goals this season, making him a surprise contender in the race for the Golden Boot, just behind Manchester City’s Erling Haaland.

West Ham’s troubles mounted just before halftime as Edson Alvarez received a second yellow card for a reckless tackle on Anthony Elanga, leaving the visitors down to ten men.

In the second half, Forest capitalized on their advantage. Callum Hudson-Odoi curled in a beautiful strike from the edge of the box to double the lead in the 65th minute. Then, Ola Aina put the game out of reach with a powerful shot into the top corner, sealing Forest’s third consecutive league win.

West Ham, now 14th in the table, struggled to find their rhythm and rarely threatened the Forest defense, with only a few close calls that Forest’s defense handled well.

Nuno Espirito Santo, Forest’s manager, praised his team’s cohesion and especially highlighted Wood’s performance. “Chris has been fantastic for us,” he said. “His goals and his work rate have been crucial to our strong start this season.”

Forest now sit just one point above Arsenal and remain six points behind league leaders Liverpool, as they continue to defy expectations.
