The charges against Ego stemmed from her false accusation against Nollywood actress Eniola Badmus. Ego, along with another individual named Chimabia, allegedly conspired to commit cyberstalking, an offense punishable under the cybercrimes act, between December 2022 and July 2023 in Lagos.

During the court proceedings, Ego was convicted on two counts and received a sentence of one year in prison with the option of paying a N50,000 fine on count one. For count two, she received a two-year prison sentence and a fine of N100,000.
