“When I’m Gone” is a song by Swedish DJ Alesso and American singer Katy Perry. It was released on 29 December 2021 by Alefune and 10:22PM Records, coinciding with the first date of Perry’s Las Vegas residency. A music video will accompany the song on 10 January 2022, during halftime of the College Football Playoff National Championship on ESPN.
After Katy tweeted a promotional video for her Las Vegas residency in late November, rumors of a new song started circulating. The video featured “Play” and an instrumental of an unknown song. On December 15, Katy and Alesso released a video saying “It’s time to give them everything they want” a few days later.
Alesso and Perry announced the song and shared a snippet of it and a music video on their social media accounts on December 15, 2021. Perry released the song on 29 December 2021, the same day that her residency show Play began. The official music video will premiere on ESPN during halftime of the National Championships of College Football playoff game on 10 January 2022.
