Marvel Studio boss Kevin Feige explained that Chadwick Boseman’s “Black Panther” character will not be recast in an upcoming sequel of the hit movie, Marvel execs said Thursday.
Chadwick Boseman died August 28 2020 at 43 following a very private battle with colon cancer.
He was “an immensely talented actor and an inspirational individual who affected all of our lives professionally and personally”.
“His portrayal of T’Challa the Black Panther is iconic and transcends iteration of the character in any other medium from Marvel’s past.”
“To honor the legacy that Chad helped us build through his portrayal of the king of Wakanda, we want to continue to explore the world of Wakanda and all of the rich and varied characters introduced in the first film,” Feige said.
Victoria Alonso, a Marvel Studios executive producer, Last month warned audiences not to expect a CGI double of the beloved actor.
“There’s only one Chadwick, and he’s not with us,” she said.
“Black Panther 2” will be written and directed by Ryan Coogler and is set to be released on July 8, 2022.
